Type of Provision/Range of Need
Special school for children age 11 to 19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties. Specialist provision for children with severe communication difficulties (Autism Spectrum) combined with learning difficulties.
Admission Arrangements and Area Served
Following referral from the Special Needs Assessment Panel. Primarily Kettering area, with some referrals from Corby area.
Access to the full National Curriculum, differentiated and modified to meet the needs of individual pupils. The Autism provision is integrated where possible and is underpinned by TEACCH principles.
Organisation and Special Resources
Experienced teachers with both subject and special needs expertise. Wide external support from therapists and support services.
Home/School Liaison and Review
Close links are maintained between parents and school. Parents are kept informed via home/school books and phone calls, and also more formal reviews of pupils’ progress.
Visiting and Pupil Transport Arrangements
Parents and professionals are welcome to visit. Please make an appointment. Where appropriate, pupil transport is provided in accordance with the Local Educational Authority Transport Policy.
At 16+ students may transfer to further education at Tresham College or a more specialist college. Others transfer to employment. 16+ provision is under review.
